Product Testing
Articles of Interest

The public needs to know that their pharmacy products are safe. Fraud Prevention Institute (FPI) is moving swiftly to establish routine scientific testing of retail pharmacy prescription drug inventory. With a start-up grant from United Pharmacy Network, Inc. (UPNI), an independent network of concerned community pharmacists, FPI has instituted pro-active drug testing at participating Southern California pharmacies. The prestigious USC School of Pharmacy provides independent scientific testing and analysis services.

Targeting high profile medications, sealed and coded samples are sent to USC for lab analysis. If tampered or counterfeit product is detected, FPI works with the pharmacy for prompt consumer notification and recovery.

With additional community funding, FPI will expand counterfeit drug testing to other regions and work to mitigate this menacing public threat.
