The Fraud Prevention Institute (FPI) is a California based not-for-profit corporation that is dedicated to confronting and preventing fraudulent penetration of the healthcare system by organized crime. FPI has developed a series of initiatives including:

1. SAFE Network: Development of a voluntary network of vendors within healthcare systems that have agreed to independent review and testing of their anti-fraud protections.
   
   
2. Product Testing: Random testing of deployed pharmaceutical products in the retail inventory.
   
   
3. Prevention of Medical Identity Theft: Education of the public as to the clear and present danger fraudulent business practices, identity theft and counterfeit or tampered products represents to patients in the U.S. healthcare system.
